Waiting for God

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

To pray means to wait for the God who comes.

[God’s] coming is bound to his promise, not to our works or virtue.

God is thrust onward by his love, not attracted by our beauty.

[God] comes in moments when we have done everything wrong, when we have done nothing…when we have sinned.

(Carlo Carretto, The God Who Comes)

  1. Carol! This saying is so profound, simple and beautifull; I will post it on my desk wall. In a similar sense Charles Spurgeon said: “Love must feed on love. The very soul and life of our love to God is HIS love to us.” Isn’t this beautiful, too? Lovingly, Margret

  2. Powerful indeed. I find it so comforting that God responds to us from God’s love, and not from our beauty, good works, whatever; that God is there for us even when we have done everything wrong!
